You are the second person I shared this with
When you think of someone who retires their parents, takes care of their family, helps their community/ others. Who do you think of?
You might’ve thought a professional athlete, a celebrity, maybe even a CEO of a company. And what is one thing that they all have in common? They all walk.
When you come across someone in a wheelchair or with a disability one of our natural thoughts may be “they’re restricted or can’t do much”.
I want and hope that one day I can and will change that. When you come across someone in a wheelchair or with a disability I want you to think “I wonder what it is that they do?”
*I want to emphasize that not everyone in a wheelchair or with a disability all have the same opportunities than others. Meaning: We all have our own unique set of challenges. However, something again I hope to one day change, is change how those sitting in a wheelchair or have a disability be and feel seen.
