His mindset did not come from nowhere. Alex shared that he was born in Mexico, came to the United States as a child, and grew up in California with a traditional expectation: go to school, graduate, get a job, and one day retire. But one of the most defining influences in his life was his father, who owned a real estate company before losing everything during the recession. Alex remembered a season where the family had no running water, no electricity, and very little to eat, yet his father refused to give up and eventually rebuilt through self-employment and business.
That example planted the seed of entrepreneurship, but Alex still took the safer path at first. After college, he worked as a recruiter and began seeing people past retirement age trying to reenter the workforce. Many of them had followed the traditional path but never built something they controlled for themselves. That realization changed Alex’s perspective and pushed him toward building his own business, using credit as a tool to access mentorship, develop skills, and create opportunity.
